Patriotism

Biblical Citizenship in Modern America Class

I wanted to share with you all a class that I came across recently and really benefitted from! A friend and I watched an earlier showing of this class and it is SO informative and encouraging! I would highly encourage everyone to watch it! It’s great to do by yourself, or with some friends or a church group (which it is geared toward).

Rick Green is a breath of fresh air with all that has gone on in the past year with governmental overreach during Covid. In this class he, and other great speakers like Kirk Cameron and David and Tim Barton, talk about the Biblical principles our country was founded on, and how we need to return to those fundamental principles.

This class addresses the issues of being a citizen of heaven and a citizen of this earth, (and how you can be both) and how we are to faithful with our duty as American citizens by learning about our Constitution and our laws so that we will be better equipped and informed in the days ahead. As our nation is coming more and more under the influence of socialist groups whose goal is to try and tear down our country’s foundations and God’s Word, it is our duty as Christians to take a stand against that.

If you are a note taker like I am, then have your pen ready! And if you can’t get everything written fast enough, there is a digital online workbook that you can go through that also has many of the insightful founding fathers quotes they share in the classes.

The class is every Monday night from 7 to 9 pm, and it actually started last Monday – but you can still jump in and sign up! And if you are interested in watching the first week’s video, here’s a link to it. 🙂

The church must take right ground in regard to politics. Politics are part of a religion in a country as this, and Christians must do their duty to their country as a part of their duty to God. God will bless or curse this nation according to the course Christians take in politics.”

– Charles Finney

If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.

– James 4:17

Freedom can exist only in the society of knowledge. Without learning, men are incapable of knowing their rights, and where learning is confined to a few people, liberty can be neither equal nor universal.

-Benjamin Rush: Essay, 1786

“Patriotism is as much a virtue as justice, and is as necessary for the support of societies as natural affection is for the support of families. The amor patriae [love of country] is both a moral and a religious duty. It comprehends not only the love of our neighbors but of millions of our fellow creatures, not only of the present but of future generations.”
