Now on to our first Thankful Thursday post!

We are now four days into the In Everything Give Thanks Challenge!! I hope everyone has been having a good week of finding things to be thankful for in the good, the bad, the little things, the big things.

For me and my family, the first day of this challenge was hard. We lost our sweet little doggy, Max. 🥺 Two of our neighbor’s dogs had come into our yard and Max, being the spunky little thing that he was, thought he would play the big protector and try to chase them away. One of the dogs broke his neck. He didn’t suffer long, but there is now a great emptiness in our house without that special little dog. 💔

Even in the midst of that sadness, the Lord gave peace, and helped me to find things to be thankful for…

~All the wonderful memories we have of Max. He was the sweetest, funniest little dog. 😊❤️

~God’s peace that surpasses all understanding.

~That we serve a God who hears and answers the prayers of His people.

~Technology that allows us to stay in touch with friends and family who live miles away.

~Some beautiful fall colors I saw on a walk. 🍁🍂💛

~This challenge, and everyone who joined this year! 🤗

~The pretty Christmas fabric I got on sale last week that I plan to turn into a Christmas quilt.

What are you thankful for this week? 🧡 Who all is doing the Scripture Memorization Plan?

  5. Looking forward to doing this challenge this month. One thing I have already learned in the first three days is that sometimes it can be hard to think of things to be thankful for when life is hard, but God is always faithful!

Here are some things I have been thankful for this week:
    – Family meals around the table
    – Sweet talks with my daughters
    – God’s Grace that gets us through hard
    things
    – Getting to ride to a revival service with
    my son Jacob

I am planning to join in on the scripture memorization challenge.🙂

  6. I was sorry to hear about max getting killed.
    some things I’m thankful for:
    -That God hears and cares
-siblings that I see every day and that want more of God and approve excellent things
-giving us in our state some leaders in key positions who work to protect those who are most vulnerable (unborn, elderly, school children)
    -filling me with His Spirit
-maintaining my “lot” (He sees to my needs/desires/portion being provided)
I do plan to memorize the Scripture sections. 🙂

    1. Thank you. It’s been hard adjusting to daily life without him, because he was so much a part of it. ❤️
This is a great list! Your #2 is one thing I am so thankful for as well! My favorite part of a weekday is around 5-6 pm when my dad and siblings start getting home, and we get to catch up on everything that happened that day. 🥰
So glad you are joining in doing the Scripture memorization plan!

    2. I really like your 4th and 5th, Joleen!

Thank you for that encouragement and reminder to be filled with God’s Spirit. I was thinking recently how the bible directs us to be filled with God’s spirit in Eph 5:18-20:

      “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
      Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;”

So, actually, giving thanks to God and singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs is a big part of being filled with God’s spirit and depending on Him!

Psalm 16:5 has always been a comfort to me and vs 6, “The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places.”

  7. It’s exciting that this year’s In Everything Give Thanks Challenge is already here! This week a few of my thankfuls are:

-Cute flannel fabric that I am turning into a baby quilt
-That Jesus is the Light in the midst of our world of darkness and evil! “The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the reigon of darkness and shadow of death light has dawned.” -Matthew 4:16
-My mom, who has been working tirelessly in the kitchen the past week in cooking for my new diet ❤
    -A honey/lemon juice treat
    -My patient family
-God's provision. A lot of times He provides what we need even before we realize that we needed it!

  8. Y’all! this is getting to be really fun! I’m going throughout the day trying to think of highlights to write down. While I’m in the process of doing this, I get to think of lots of things to be thankful for and am learning to recognize the special things God is providing for me.

  10. Here are my highlights for Week 1!!

-Getting to spend time with my Grandmom that week!
-Finishing our chicken processing! What a blessing to have that fresh chicken!
-The peaceful purity of God’s ways instead of the world!
-God’s written Word and His truths and promises revealed!!! What a POWERFUL blessing!!
-My gracious family and ALL of their love and patience with me!♥
-Jesus Christ, my Savior, who has washed me clean and given me a new name! His Victory, His Life, His Hope!
    -Brothers and sisters in Christ!
-The blessings of physical + spiritual rest! That rest in His goodness and power and love.♥
-A really good buy on mums! A farm was about done with their field of mums and the lady gave us a really good deal!

One thing that struck me was, again, the peaceful purity of God’s ways! The world tries to bombard and distract us, but God’s ways are good and clean and beautiful. What a blessing to be His child and to be able to rest in His love!♥
