Charles Spurgeon’s powerful conclusion here in talking about the throne of grace left me saying, “Wow!” a few times. Reading through Spurgeon’s teachings on The Power of Prayer in a Believer’s Life has really revived my prayer life, and has caused me to want to come before my Heavenly Father’s throne of grace more often and with a heart full of awe and gratitude! ❤️ He quotes Psalm 95 at the end of this section, and the phrase “beauty of holiness” stood out to me, how prayer is really a beautiful and holy act. And what an amazing and kind God we serve who has given us the privilege to come before Him at any time! He is not like a cruel king who would kill someone for coming uninvited into His presence, but He gives an open invitation to all to “Come”.
Prayer is an:
~ Eminent and Elevated Act, a High and Wondrous Privilege ~
“If I am called upon to pray in public, I must not dare use words that are intended to please the ears of others, but I must realize that I am speaking to God Himself and that I have business to transact with the great Lord. And in my private prayer, if I bow my knee and repeat certain words, I rather sin than do anything that is good, unless my very soul speaks unto the Most High…the gathering up of all our remarks is just this – prayer is an eminent and elevated act, a high and wondrous privilege.
Under the old Persian Empire, a few of the nobility were permitted at any time to come before the king, and this was thought to be the highest privilege possessed by mortals.
You and I, the people of God, have permission to come before the throne of heaven at any time we will, and we are encouraged to come there with great boldness.
But let us never forget that it is no small thing to be a courtier in the courts of heaven and earth, to worship Him who made us and sustains us in being. Truly, when we come to pray, we may hear the voice out of the excellent glory saying, ‘Bow the knee.’ From all the sprits that behold the face of our Father who is in heaven, even now, I hear a voice that says, ‘O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand…O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before Him, all the earth.’ (Psalm 95:6-7).”

“And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.” -Revelation 22:17
