In Everything Give Thanks Challenge

Thankful Thursday – Week 1

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a good first week of the In Everything Give Thanks Challenge! My week has been a very full one, and overflowing with so many of God’s blessings! 😊

A few highlights from my week were:

  1. The marvelous grace of our loving Lord. ❤️
  2. A very productive day! 😀
  3. Completing a somewhat difficult web design project.
  4. A beautiful sunrise. 🌅
  5. A super fun day with a friend, dressing up in period clothes and singing in a 178 year-old house.
  6. The rubber band that kept my shoe that was falling apart from flapping everywhere I walked. 🙃
  7. Meeting a new friend – Mrs. April. 😊
  8. The privilege and the power of prayer.
  9. A lunch outing with my sweet Nana and Aunt Lynn.
  10. God’s provision with my dad’s filing fee for a state senate race. 🙌🏻
  11. Getting to hold some cute little kittens.
  12. All of the beautiful fall foliage this year! 😍🍁🍂
  13. Family debate night watch parties. 🇺🇸📽🍿
  14. A flat tire only needing a patch and not totally replaced.
  15. My amazing sister coming to my aid with a last minute sewing project.

Remember – if you want to send in some of your own photos to be featured in the weekly posts, email them to: sincerelyamanda@proton.me (deadline each week is Tuesday by 10 pm CST).

Who all is doing the Scripture memorization? I’ll have to admit that in the crazy busy-ness of last week I failed to make time to work on it, but I plan to this next week!

What were your highlights from this week? 🙂

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.”
Psalm 136:1

  1. I was two days late on beginning the challenge, but the moment that reminded me was when I climbed into my truck on a cold morning and was very thankful to have cloth seats that are more temperature neutral than the vinyl in my old truck.
A few things that stood out to me the past week that I am grateful for are:
    1. The ability to come before God in prayer, and His patience with me in that.
    2. The stories that people share from their lives, and the blessing of seeing God working through each of us.
    3. My sister preparing a meal for me when I come over to visit each week.

I am participating in the Scripture verse memorization! These are good passages to know.

(Outstanding job on the difficult web design project, by the way! That is a useful skill to have.)

    1. Yes, cloth seats are really nice to have for the cold months. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your highlights from the week! I believe prayer was a repeated thankful in this week’s post. 😊
And glad that you’re joining in the Scripture memorization!

      (Thanks! 😁)

  2. I love your list of highlights! And your pictures are beautiful!
I’m definitely not “keeping up” with the challenge – I’ve only written down 23 thankfuls in the last 9 days. :} But I kinda knew that going in, and this year my goal is just to keep *coming back* to the challenge, as the wonderful reminder-to-be-thankful that it’s meant to be! Some of my highlights from the past week:
    1. Actually sitting down to read my Bible physically – a lot of my Bible reading lately has been listening to an audio Bible while doing other things, so sitting down with my Bible to read it “in person” was really refreshing
    2. I found calendars for next year! A gorgeous landscapes one for my room and a really cool outer space one for…[to be determined] XD
    3. All the pretty Fall (and Christmas!) things at Hobby Lobby and Walmart
    4. Friends who helped set up for a big play practice
    5. Really good sermon about Moses at the burning bush – how the bush was burning with fire, but was not consumed…
    6. Buying Things™ for myself lately – finally having the finances to do so, as well as using up a giftcard that I was given a year ago, lol
    7. …Including a new-to-me dressy pink top and a Captain America fidget spinner that I’ve loved ever since I saw a friend’s copy 10+ years ago!
    8. Checkers with my nephew
    9. Sermons from Alistair Begg
    10. An amazing friend who is helping with sewing for our play, and is working around complicated schedules, me changing my mind, and last-minute fabric purchasing! (This one is technically a mash-up of my last 3 thankful entries, lol – she’s literally the best!)

  3. I was looking for this post all day yesterday, because it had been a week from November 1 and I didn’t realize that you were doing Thankful THURSDAY posts. It seems like I’ve had a lot of opportunities to practice patience this week, which I’m grateful for! 😄 Other grateful highlights from my week have been…

-Time spent with my Pap ❤️
    -Sunshine!
-Chai tea on a cold evening
-Finally learning how to sew a blind hem stitch correctly
    -Seam rippers 🙃
-The reminder that the Lord is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him
-The book “Don’t Waste Your Life” by John Piper
-Heart-to-heart and deep conversations with the siblings
-Being blessed by a six-year-old’s prayer that was so precious
-Beautiful weather the past several days

I am doing the Scripture memorization, also!

  4. I have to confess, I missed this whole first week!😬
It was an extremely busy one and it just slipped my mind.
So compared to me, the rest of you guys can feel good about yourselves😜
But here’s some things I thought of today.

-The time I had this afternoon just to play my guitar and sing.
-The dishes I had to wash…I dislike to wash dishes but every time I do it builds my character😌🤣
-Getting our yard mowed today(Finally 😮‍💨)
-For the forgiveness that God has given us through the death of His Son on the cross. Whose example we are to follow in forgiving those who have wronged us.

And so thankful for the last one – such a good reminder of God’s great love for us and the love and forgiveness we are to then show others. ❤️

I did miss some very full days this week, but I’ve been so grateful for the reminder of this challenge to point my heart toward thanksgiving. Thank you, Amanda.

    Five favorites –
    1. For my Savior, Jesus Christ!
    2. That He is not dead – but RISEN!
    3. He bids us to ASK, SEEK, and KNOCK
    4. Very fun visits with family and friends over the past week
    5. Ephesians 1 – I read it and was so blessed by pondering it…then it was the main passage in an Elisabeth Elliot message I’d been meaning to listen to for weeks. The timing was absolutely perfect and encouraged me in the exact way I needed it. God is SO good!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

  9. Yes, I have memorized the first set of verses. You were kind and picked some very familiar ones! We’ll see how the second week goes.
I always tend to have negative thoughts about everything, so I’m thankful that God’s “mercy endures forever.” And he allows me to continue to learn and grow in Him!
One of my highlights was watching a couple of young ladies sing and enjoy the day together! 😁

  10. Hi Amanda! I enjoyed reading your post and the reminder to give thanks! I don’t think I will be able to participate in this challenge, though I may jump on a couple times to comment! 1. I’m thankful for the fully wonderful hope that God gives us in His Word! 2. For His reminders to me that He has in store for me things that are beyond what I could ask or think.

    1. Thanks for commenting, and for sharing the things you are thankful for! ❤️ Your first one made me think of the amazing hope we have in Christ – “according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” (1 Peter 1:3-5)

    2. The Holy Spirit
    3. Hymns
    4. Miracles God is doing in my life in answer to prayer
    5. Deep relationships and fellowship through God’s Spirit

  12. Joyful greetings in Christ! I’m way past late😅, but since I’ve been trying to mostly keep up in my journal this month, I decided I would still pop on the blog and post some thankful highlights from this month so far to catch up. 🙂 God has blessed abundantly this month!

    1. our cozy home and the love that abounds here. So thankful for the safely, comfort and peace of home.♥
    2. when He willingly reveals specific truths to our heart.
    3. precious fellowship shared with many people during that week, specifically some out-of-town company. So thankful for brothers and sisters in Christ who truly desire to see us grow and thrive in Him, and who overflow with His Spirit! The body of Christ is precious!
    4. my kitty Ricky. He had to be put down😔, but we’re grateful for the joy he brought to us all!
