In Everything Give Thanks Challenge

Thankful Thursday – Week 2

Week 1 and Week 2 of the In Everything Give Thanks Challenge are in the books, and we are now halfway through this challenge! 😱 I hope everyone has had a good week of counting your many blessings, naming them one by one. 😊

Here are my favorite thankfuls from this past week:

  1. God’s Word to comfort and guide us with whatever we are dealing with.
  2. A fun trip with my family to the Capitol for my dad to file for his state senate race! 😀
  3. The Lord taking away some obstacles that would have prohibited #2 from happening.
  4. Getting to sit with my dear friend, Miss Glenda, and see her abundant joy and love for people even when she’s laid up in a hospital bed.
  5. My church family
  6. Hugs and a thoughtful card from a sweet little friend. 🥰
  7. Alarm clocks! Don’t know what I would do without them! 😅
  8. The Lord bringing a phrase from a song to my mind during a stressful day to remind me that He is bigger than any problem I may face. 🙌🏻❤️
  9. Singing to a joyful group of old people for the seventh year in a row! 😊
  10. A friend helping us out with playing the banjo since my banjo playing brother was gone.
  11. My brother returning safely from an out of state trip.
  12. A lovely phone conversation with a dear friend.
  13. The Bible verse on my bank receipt.
  14. The National Bible Bee livestream! 😀

To those who are doing the Scripture Memorization Plan – how is that going? I was able to get caught up on the passages from week 1 and week 2, and I am looking forward to start working on week 3!

“Now thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.”
2 Corinthians 2:14

  1. The highlight of my week was Friday, so I share my thankfuls from then: 😊

    1. The beautiful sky that we got to see while traveling (and that Amanda got a picture of it! 😉🤗)
    2. That the God who created the sky and holds the universe in His hand cares and is longsuffering toward His creation – towards me – even though we have rebelled against Him and try to go our own way time after time.
    3. That He not only humbles Himself to behold the things that are in the heavens and the earth, but that He also CAME DOWN, took on human flesh, and became like one of us so that He could die for us.
    4. Our family trip to Little Rock for Dad to file for the state senate race!
    5. Friends who were there to support and celebrate with us, and be our tour guides around the big city and capitol building. 😁

I memorized Psalm 103:1-5 yesterday and vs. 4 stood out to me- “who redeems your life from destruction…”
Truly, we would receive nothing but the judgment we deserve without God’s grace and Christ’s death on the cross.

  2. Some of my weekly highlights I am thankful for include:
    1. Getting to play the banjo with the Silvey Family Band! It was a treat to play alongside good friends, and also a blessing to see the joy that the music brought to the listeners.
    2. Having God’s Word in my language. A co-worker discusses this with me occasionally, and I am reminded of the many people who still do not have Scripture they can read.
    3. Much-needed spiritual encouragement from watching the National Bible Bee as I prepare for a professional exam.

  7. Continuing my catchup…😀 During week 2 I was thankful for –
    1. the RICHNESS of God’s Word! So full and life giving!
    2. my sister!! For her joyfulness and zeal for life and the Lord, and the PRECIOUS in-home friend she is to me!!😊♥
    3. evenings at home as a family, working or reading or eating, and just enjoying this cozy, sweet season♥
    4. my job!
    5. penpals and getting to be sharpened as iron by so many dear sisters in Christ!♥
    6. the Body of Christ! How grateful I am for FAMILY in Christ. I’ve been meditating on 1 Peter 1:22-23, and desiring to grow ever more in this heart…it’s powerful: “Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,”
    7. my late-Grandma on her birthday that week♥ She was SUCH a dear, precious lady, and such an example of a grateful, cheerful heart and focusing on the things that matter!
