In Everything Give Thanks Challenge

Thankful Thursday – Week 4 & Giveaway!

Wow! November went by way too fast! I am sad that the challenge is coming to an end, but so thankful that the Lord has given us another year to have this special focus of giving thanks to Him! I pray the challenge was as much of a blessing to you as it was to me, and that we will continue to practice having a heart of thankfulness into the Christmas season and the new year!

  1. This challenge has been a great blessing for me! Thank you, Amanda, for putting this on. I am encouraged each week seeing how the Lord works in each of our lives, and it has been a good month of being aware of God’s provision in so many ways. I may not write down what I am thankful for in the days ahead, but I have grown through the challenge and look forward to continuing in that growth. The following are a few things I am thankful for from last week:

    1. The opportunity to hike at Mt. Nebo and Mt. Magazine. It was an indescribable experience, and also a pleasant time for prayer and deep thoughts as my friends and I trekked along.
    2. Laughter at my workplace.
    3. Sight, and the beauty of colors. Also that we have colored pens, pencils, and paints to create art with.
    4. Provoking and uncomfortable thoughts from “Suffering and the Sovereignty of God” edited by John Piper and Justin Taylor.
    5. Getting to fellowship with a friend while kayaking on a lake.

I have not finished memorizing the passages, but I plan to continue with that even though we are moving into December tomorrow. They are excellent verses worth committing to memory.

I did not complete the challenge of writing down five items each day, but I thoroughly benefitted from the attempt, and it has been worthwhile to have that in my mind for so long.

My top five favorites from the challenge are:
    1. God’s patience with me
    2. The conviction of the Spirit
    3. Hiking at Mt. Nebo and Mt. Magazine
    4. Paintings of nature that make me smile
    5. Encouraging truths from a Paul Washer podcast titled “Studies in Proverbs”

    3. A beautiful blue sky with white clouds.

    8. A fun evening with our “adopted” cousin, Ben.
    9. Getting to see our sweet friend, Glenda, one more time and hold her hand before she went to be with Jesus. 😢💔
    10. The joy and comfort we have when a believer dies, even in the midst of grief. “So we grieve, but not as others who have no hope. And we cry, but deep inside of us we know- the grave is not the end, reunion lies ahead. In the arms of Jesus there is comfort. Yes, we grieve, but not as others.” (“Not As Others” sung by the Mylon Hayes Family)

I memorized all of the verses, though I am still working on getting the last one concrete in my mind. They were a blessing and will continue to be, I’m sure! I also completed the challenge to write five things down for every day. My top five are:

    1. The Lord’s grace and faithfulness to want to transform me into His image.
    2. Getting to spend more time with my grandparents in their last years by living with them.
    3. Siblings that make me laugh!
    4. All of my sky thankfuls, and how it fills me with awe and wonder to see that part of God’s creation every day!
    5. That we got to be apart of Glenda’s life the past several years. ❤️
